noms blows a gasket - chapter the hell you say?!

My perfectly normal workday was completely derailed by seeing this and its associated article on Twitter. And then when I got home I had to install a widget on my website so I could insert pictures to pictorially represent the horror we're dealing with. It took me a minute, but my rage has not subsided.

Storytelling in Games (there may be spoilers)

I've been thinking a lot about stories in videogames for a couple reasons, partially because I still haven't been able to force myself away from Starcraft and Guild Wars 2 and pick up Assassin's Creed 3 finally.  Its the first time in my life that games with a lesser emphasis on story have held me away from other games.  That's not to say those two games don't have a story, but its not the biggest focus.  The single player campaign for Starcraft was really well done and by the end if Jim Raynor hadn't rescued the Queen of Blades I would have raged at the screen like Rush Limbaugh.

An Apology to Silent Hill 3

A few years ago, I picked up Silent Hill 3 and started playing. I had never played a survival horror before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I did not expect was a main character who had to use her entire torso to swing a crowbar at a monster, and then take a couple seconds to breathe before trying again. Needless to say, I died a lot. Then I found a gun and rejoiced, for I would be able to mete out sweet revenge upon their scary butts. I'm sure you can guess what happened next: I ran out of ammo. Cue the dying.
